Cigarette smoke contains several compounds identified as irritants and even toxic chemicals to living systems that cannot be eliminated through regular carbonless filters. However, technology has developed to an extent that coconut shell based activated carbons can be applied in the cigarette filter to meet the vert strict specifications of cigarette producers to remove undesirable constituents from cigarette smoke while not influencing the flavor and aroma characteristics. The carbon filters come in a solid plug form (Cavity filter) or dispersed within cellulose acetate tow (Dalmatian filter). YICARB offers both moisturized and non-moisturized granular coconut carbon based on customer needs.
YICARB offers a premium range of activated carbons specially engineered with optimal adsorption characteristics for cigarette filters. These activated carbon are typically made from selected grades of coconut shell and produced under rigidly controlled conditions by high temperature steam activation. Our granular activated carbons are of food grade quality and comply with all current tobacco ordinance specifications. The tailor-made particle size distributions of these products ensure high kinetics, whilst the low dust and fine particle content prevents the contamination and discoloration of filters, and prevents contaminant leakages. We can also greatly increase the retention of a wide range of vapor phase, semi volatile as well as low molecular weight contaminants including Aldehydes, Cyanides, Ketones, Hydrocarbons and Pyridine among many others.
